BrickRed Studios Ltd is a professionally equipped textile-printing workshop. BrickRed is a multi functioning facility, offering a variety of services. My main role is teaching aspiring students of all ages how to apply their ideas onto printed fabric. This involves the students learning the various forms of textile printing using the specialist equipment; particularly silk screen-printing. The courses start with an introduction to fibres and fabrics, colour and colourants. This follows on to the design development and application combined with dye workshops.

Students are encouraged to explore the various approaches combining their ideas into sample pieces. I work alongside students advising technical application with creative suggestions. BrickRed Studios incorporate a large element of experimentation and discovery as well as learning professional textile printing techniques.

I am able to create specific programmes according to the students requirement. I have worked alongside a secondary school, Design Technology dept. that sub-contracted my facilities and was able to help devise a programme of teaching for the GCSE course.

Most of my students have continued on a number of courses and are competent. The next stage of their development is the realisation of business possibilities. We are keen to encourage some students to develop their commercial awareness through product development and marketing. We promote our students and have held a number of exhibitions at BrickRed Studios, which have been well received by the general public and by artists alike. We are keen for the students to experience positive feedback from other artists and organisations.
